Beginner’s Guide to CBD

The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide To Cannabidiol (CDB): What Is CBD It and How Can It Help You?

As U.S. states and many other countries begin to legalize both medical and recreational cannabis, the market has enjoyed an influx of readily available hemp and marijuana derived products.

Cannabidiol, most commonly referred to as CBD is the most beneficial of these products.

In fact, CBD has been the one of most anticipated health and wellness products released for some time, and for good reason.

As a remedy for chronic pain and anxiety there really is no other natural product as powerful as CBD.

If you want to get healthier and happier this year I strongly suggest you make CBD part of your daily routine ,in addition to other daily practices such as following the Wim Hof method and intermittent fasting.

Despite all of the positive media coverage and scientific evidence supporting the use of CBD, many people are unsure of what CBD is, if it really is legal, if it gets them high or not and how it can help them.

If you’re looking to try CBD but aren’t sure where to start, I put together this guide to answer your questions and help clear up some of the common misconceptions surrounding CBD and its uses.

I'll cover all the basics of CBD and where you can buy the best CBD oil.

In this post I will also introduce you to a few of the most common CBD product options such as oils, in addition to a few innovative products such as CBD edibles, vapes and juices.

Remember, before you purchase any CBD product make sure you check your local laws and read the legal info on any of the websites you choose to purchase CBD from.

What is Cannabidiol (CBD) And How Is It Different From Marijuana?

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the most well known active compound on the cannabis or marijuana plant (Cannabis Sativa), thanks to its psychoactive properties.

THC is the compound that gets you “high.”

Cannabidiol (CBD) is the second most prevalent of the 104 active ingredients of the cannabis plant.

Unlike THC, CBD does not get you "high".

While CBD is an essential component of medical marijuana, most legal CBD derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant.

Hemp is simply the common and legal term for cannabis that contains less than .3% THC, and marijuana is the common and legal term for cannabis that contains .3% and more THC.

It is important not to confuse hemp oil with CBD oil. Although they come from the same plant, hemp oil comes from the seed and contains no CBD.

However, hemp oil is commonly used as a carrier oil in CBD products.

The government’s position on CBD is confusing, and depends in part on whether the CBD comes from hemp or marijuana.

Most quality CBD manufacturers derive their CBD from certified organic hemp plants to avoid potential legal complications.

I always suggest checking your state’s laws regarding CBD oil before purchasing.

Introduction To CBD's Effect On The Human Endocannabinoid System

Every human has a endocannabinoid system (ECS) running throughout their entire body.

The ECS was first discovered in the 1980's.

Scientists discovered that the ECS plays a major role in keeping us healthy, happy and strong.

The ECS helps us maintain homeostasis by regulating the body’s immune-system responses, pain response and sleep function.

Our body produces a number of endocannabinoids on its own.

They are mostly found in our brain, glands, organs, and immune system.

To get the most from cannabinoids, our body looks for the active cannabinoid receptors, referred to as CB1 and CB2.

Although CB1 receptors are present throughout the body, most are located in the brain and nervous system. These receptors are responsible for:

  • Appetite
  • Pain relief
  • Memories
  • Movement and coordination
  • Thought processes
  • Emotions and mood

CB2 receptors are more present in our immune and gastrointestinal systems. They affect:

  •  inflammation
  • pain management.

Taking a quality CBD supplement can support our ECB system and optimize the amount of cannabinoids roaming our system at any given time.

How Do You Take CBD?

CBD is available in a wide range of forms. The CBD market is growing at a rapid rate and every week there seems to be new product lines hitting the market

Here are the most common forms of CBD:

Oils and tinctures

CBD oil is the most commonly used method for consuming exogenous cannabinoids. These products usually contain a carrier oil (hemp) which is infused with CBD.

You simply place a drop under the tongue with a dropper.

The oral mucosa is full of tiny capillaries that absorb the compounds quickly.

There are a wide range of CBD oils on the market. Always make sure you choose a CBD oil that is pure and sourced from an organic plant.

Here are a couple of examples of quality CBD oils and tinctures:

CBDPure OIL

CBDPure oils are made with non-GMO hemp, grown in Colorado by local farmers. CBDPure CBD oil contains naturally occurring cannabidiol, terpenes and other cannabinoids to promote overall well-being, in a minimally processed form that preserves what nature intended
